Lions waived TE Jordan Thompson (knee) with a failed physical designation.
Thompson made two appearances for Detroit in 2014, but he missed all of 2015 after suffering a “significant” knee injury in the preseason. He is likely still recovering from that injury.
  • FA Tight End
    Lions signed TE Jordan Thompson.
Thompson went undrafted out of Ohio last April and sat on the street all season. At 6-foot-3 3/4 and 247 pounds with 4.82 wheels, he’s an undersized and ultimately underwhelming H-back or tight end prospect.
  • FA Tight End
Lions promoted TE Jordan Thompson from the practice squad.
The Lions are without both Eric Ebron (doubtful, hamstring) and Joseph Fauria (ankle) this week. A 2013 UDFA out of Ohio, Thompson will back up Brandon Pettigrew on Sunday.
  • FA Tight End
    Lions waived TE Jordan Thompson.
It’s a sign that all or some of Brandon Pettigrew, Eric Ebron and Joe Fauria could return from injury as the Lions come out of their bye. Thompson should revert back to the practice squad.
