The Pelicans have signed Kaiser Gates to a two-way contract, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Since going undrafted out of Xavier in 2018, Gates has bounced around the G-League. Last season, he averaged 14 points for the Long Island Nets while shooting 55.4% from deep. New Orleans has a lot of depth already, so it’s unlikely that Gates gets much playing time in the NBA this season.

The Nets announced on Thursday that they’ve signed Kaiser Gates to fill their open roster spot.
Gates has spent time with the Long Island Nets, so there’s familiarity with the organization. However, it’s highly unlikely that he starts the season with the team.

The Celtics have waived Max Strus, Kaiser Gates and Yante Maten.
Strus was originally signed to a two-way deal in July before signing a two-year contract to get on the 15-man roster last week. The Celtics likely just wanted to give him some money after changing their minds on his two-way deal, which ultimately went to Tacko Fall. Strus is now ineligible to play for Boston’s G-League affiliate, but Gates and Maten still can.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Celtics are signing F Kaiser Gates to a training camp contract.
Boston has 14 players signed to guaranteed contracts for the 2019-20 season. Gates, who played at Xavier, will have an opportunity to battle for the 15th and final roster spot. He is not on the fantasy radar.
