The Orioles have decided not to sign 25-year-old Kazuaki Minami from Japan.
Minami worked out for Baltimore Monday, but didn’t show enough for them to offer him even a minor league contract. “Right now, we don’t see having a spot for him in the organization, but if that changes, we’ll get in contact with him,” vice president Jim Duquette said.

The Orioles worked out free agent Kazuaki Minami on Monday, but they aren’t likely to sign the right-hander.
Minami, 25, pitched only briefly in Japan’s top leagues, appearing in two games in 2004. He reportedly showed a high-80s fastball and a decent slider while working out for Baltimore. He’s only going to be a candidate for a minor league deal.
