Virginia tech safety Keonta Jenkins (ankle) is warming up against West Virginia and is expected to play.
Jenkins (6'3/207) missed last week’s game against Middle Tennessee state with an ankle injury, but appears set to go today against the Mountaineers. In Week 1 against North Carolina, Jenkins was targeted twice. He surrendered two receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown in the upset win, while also recording three tackles.

Virginia Tech S Keonta Jenkins (ankle) should be ready to return for Week 3 against West Virginia according to coach Justin Fuente.
Jenkins (6'3"/194) missed last week’s game against Middle Tennessee State with an ankle injury, but Fuente said “Indications I’m getting on Keonta are that he will be back full-go this week, ready to go.” Jenkins started in Week 1’s upset over North Carolina and had three tackles.

Virginia Tech redshirt senior S Divine Deablo (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Saturday’s game vs. North Carolina.
Virginia Tech’s secondary has been hit hard by “undisclosed” absences recently, with Deablo (6'3/226) being one of many who are once again sidelined. In addition to the redshirt senior, Tyree Rodgers (listed as Deablo’s backup on the two-deep), ROVER Keonta Jenkins and backup CB Brion Murray have all been ruled out for Saturday’s matchup with the Tar Heels. That could be a major issue for the Hokies, as they look to slow down one of the ACC’s top quarterbacks in North Carolina’s Sam Howell.

Virginia Tech freshman DB Keonta Jenkins is listed as the starting rover ahead of Saturday’s game vs. NC State.
Due to COVID-19 issues Saturday’s game will be the Hokies’ first of the season, as the matchup with the Wolfpack was originally scheduled for September 12 before being pushed back. Jenkins (6'3/194) will be making his collegiate debut, and he’ll be doing so as the replacement for suspended starter Devon Hunter. Hunter was suspended indefinitely last week after being arrested on a felony charge of strangulation to cause wound or injury and a misdemeanor charge of assault against a family member.

Virginia Tech received a verbal commitment from three-star 2020 S Keonta Jenkins.
Jenkins (6'3/180) spurned Indiana and Cincinnati in opting in with the Hokies. He visited the program in July, which helped to grease the wheels for this pledge. The Jacksonville native makes for Virginia Tech’s second safety pledge in the 2020 class, with three-star Lakeem Rudolph the other youngster already in the fold at the position. 247Sports ranks Jenkins as the No. 79 safety prospect for the cycle.

Uncommitted three-star 2020 S Keonta Jenkins will announce his pledge on Friday.
Jenkins (6'3/180) is deciding between Virginia Tech, Indiana and Cincinnati. He has taken unofficial visits to all three of those programs this offseason. 247Sports (outlet, not composite board) sees the Jacksonville native home as the No. 79 safety prospect in the 2020 class.
