Miami freshman WR Keyshawn Smith has been running with the first-team offense in training camp.
Smith (6'1/188) has been making quite an impression in training camp and is even running alongside veteran slot receiver Mike Harley and Oklahoma transfer Charleston Rambo on the first-team offense. He made another in a series of explosive plays at Saturday’s scrimmage and has separated himself from a strong pack of young receivers. He was originally a three-star Washington State commit, even signing a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period. But he was given his unconditional release after Mike Leach left Washington State to become the new head coach at Mississippi State. Now firmly established as a key cog in Miami’s potent offense, Smith will be on the field early and often when the Hurricanes face off against National Champion Alabama on September 4.

Washington State received a verbal commitment from three-star 2020 WR Keyshawn Smith.
Smith (6'0/165) additionally held an offer from Tennessee and had been seeing interest from multiple Mountain West outfits. The San Diego native will look to outplay his recruiting ranking when he boots up in Pullman, as the 247Sports composite board currently sees Smith home as the No. 103 prospect in the state of California for the 2020 cycle.

Smith will now be headed to Coral Gables as the newest member of the Hurricanes’ 2020 class. He’ll have the opportunity to contribute immediately, as Miami has some holes to fill at wide receiver. It’s also worth noting that the offense has a new leader in OC Rhett Lashlee, and his system is viewed as a good fit for Smith.
