Wilson

Wilson is up to help with a special teams unit that has been among the worst in football this season. The Panthers gave up a 79-yard punt return touchdown to Marc Mariani last week.

Wilson will replace Larry Foote (torn biceps, injured reserve) at the “Buck” inside linebacker spot. He’ll get the start over sixth-round pick Vince Williams. Wilson has been strictly a special teams player in his first two seasons and has appeared in just nine games since 2010.

Wilson has appeared in seven games (two starts) with the Steelers and will likely be re-signed to the practice squad if he clears waivers. DE Brian Arfelt was promoted to replace him on the active roster.

Wilson signed on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of South Florida in 2010. Since then, he’s bounced to the Panthers and Steelers, making 15 appearances as a special teamer.

Wilson was a starter at “Buck” linebacker in Weeks 2 and 3 thanks to Larry Foote’s injury, but got benched in favor of Vince Williams. Now Wilson loses his roster spot to Stevenson Sylvester.

Wilson was waived two weeks ago, but stashed back on the practice squad. He returns as a reserve after making starts in Weeks 2 and 3. He’s a special teamer.

Wilson was signed off the practice squad earlier this month and forced a fumble against the Raiders. He was a special teams contributor only.

Wilson, an undrafted free agent, will be signed off the practice squad to play special teams. He excelled in both punt and kick coverage during the preseason.

All expected McDonald were undrafted free agents this season.
