KZ Okpala, Kyle Alexander, Chris Silva and Gabe Vincent are the Heat’s inactive players for Friday’s game against the Celtics.
Okpala, Silva and Vincent have all been slowed by injuries, with Silva ruled out for the season, but even if they were healthy none would factor into the Heat rotation.

  • NBA Power Forward #17
Kyle Alexander has agreed to a two-way contract with the Heat.
He spent some time with Miami during training camp and has been playing for their G League affiliate, and this new two-way deal will keep him with the club for the duration of the season. He’s irrelevant in fantasy hoops.
  • NBA Shooting Guard #9
The Heat have released Davon Reed, Kyle Alexander, Skyler Flatten and Bubu Palo.
Reed, formerly an early second-round pick two years ago, provided minimal impact in four preseason games. All four players will likely head to the G-League after the Heat cut down their roster to 14.
  • NBA Power Forward #17
Rookie forward Kyle Alexander has agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract with the Miami Heat.
Alexander is a rookie from the University of Tennessee, where he played over 100 games as a role player. He posted uninspiring numbers in eight Summer League games and is likely just a training camp body that will end up with the Heat’s G-League affiliate.

New Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins told the team’s website that he wants to bring a new style of basketball to Memphis.
“We’re going to play fast. Pace and space,” Jenkins said. “Hopefully, put a lot of points on the board. Some people only focus on the offensive end of the floor, but we want to be a great defensive unit, too. From an Xs and Os standpoint, hopefully you’ll see we’re going to be a high-energy basketball team. It’s a change of style, but hopefully we generate some excitement in the crowd.” This will be a big change from the “Grit and Grind” era of basketball in Memphis where they routinely ranked towards the bottom of the league in pace, including dead last a year ago. Equipped with young talent like Jaren Jackson Jr. and Ja Morant, it’s clear that Jenkins wants to embrace the new NBA, which will be great for everyone’s fantasy value. Arrows up all around.
  • CHI Shooting Guard #13
Kevin Huerter (back) has been upgraded to probable for Sunday’s game against the Bucks.
Hurter missed Friday’s game due to the back issue, but it sounds like he’ll be back in action tonight, which will shift either Taurean Prince or Justin Anderson back to the second unit and DeAndre Bembry’s minutes will take a bit of a hit.
