ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Alabama OC Lane Kiffin is a “front-runner” for the 49ers’ offensive-coordinator vacancy.
Kiffin, 39, is coming off a wildly successful first season as the Crimson Tide’s play-caller, finishing 3rd in the SEC in total offense and 17th in the nation. Kiffin hasn’t been in the NFL since a disaster 20-game stint as the Raiders’ head coach from 2007-2008 when he went 5-15. He’d be a very intriguing hire for the 49ers.

Lane Kiffin will remain at Alabama for 2015.
Kiffin was considered the frontrunner for the 49ers’ offensive-coordinator job. San Francisco could now turn its attention to Colts assistant Rob Chudzinski or QB coach Geep Chryst. Mike Shanahan has also been linked to the 49ers.
