    Texans released EDGE Mario Addison.
Per KPCR2’s Aaron Wilson, the move is purely a cap maneuver and Addison could return to Houston on a new deal. He signed a two-year, $7.7 million contract with the Texans a year ago but his release now saves the team $3.4 million against the cap. Addison only notched one sack in 12 games but is a solid veteran to have for a team that will be loaded with young players in 2023.

Texans placed EDGE Mario Addison on injured reserve with a groin injury.
The pass-rushing role player was signed in May after registering seven sacks in 17 appearances for the Bills last season. It thins the Texans’ depth on the edge. Addison should probably be ready to return when first eligible in Week 5.

Texans signed EDGE Mario Addison, formerly of the Bills, to a two-year contract.
Addison will be 35 in September but continues to produce despite his advanced age. After spending seven seasons in Carolina, Addison went to Buffalo to reunite with coach Sean McDermott the past two years. He recorded 12 sacks for the Bills across 32 games and has 67 career quarterback takedowns. In Houston, Addison will reunite with ex-Bills DL coach Jacques Cesaire and gives the Texans a solid veteran presence.

Free agent DE Mario Addison visited the Seahawks on Wednesday.
The Seahawks also hosted safety Damontae Kazee for a visit. Addison’s role has decreased in recent years but he still offers solid pass-rushing numbers, totaling seven sacks and as many QB hits in 2021. Now 34 years old, Addison would play a rotational role for Seattle. The Seahawks ranked 20th in sacks per game and 26th in pressure rate last year. Even if Addison is only playing two-thirds of the team’s defensive snaps, his presence would be a boost for Seattle’s middling defensive line.

The Buffalo News believes DE Mario Addison’s roster spot “could be in jeopardy.”
Signed to a three-year deal last March, Addison restructured this offseason, voiding the 2022 season. There’s still a chance Buffalo moves on after drafting rookies Greg Rousseau and Boogie Basham in the first two rounds. Addison, 34 in September, was limited to five sacks in 2020 and seems likely to decline from his 56% snap rate. Addison’s $6 million dead-cap hit would make for an unlikely cap casualty. Buffalo can save $2.1 million from his release.

ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques believes the Bills could release DE Mario Addison this offseason.
Addison’s production dipped in his first year with Buffalo, posting 30 tackles and five sacks on a 56% snap rate. His $10.2 million cap hit is high for a 34-year-old coming off a down season, making him a candidate to be released or restructured. Buffalo would save $6.1 million if they move on from Addison.

Bills signed free agent DE Mario Addison, formerly of the Panthers, to a three-year contract.
Addison is exiting the prime of his career now that he’s 33 years old, but he’s been a productive pass rusher for Carolina in recent years. The veteran has compiled at least 9.0 sacks and two forced fumbles in each of the past four seasons and should remain effective for the next couple of seasons as the Bills go all in for a championship with Josh Allen still on his rookie contract.

ESPN’s David Newton reports Panthers impending free agent DE Mario Addison plans to test the free agent market.
The Panthers have reportedly expressed interest in re-signing 32-year-old Addison, but he’ll first gauge the market to see where his own value stands. Addison has blossomed in his last four seasons with the organization, totaling 39 sacks and 89 tackles over a sturdy 61 appearances within Carolina’s trenches. With their front office currently unwilling to take on long-term contracts, it’s unlikely the two sides see eye to eye once free agency opens on March 18.

Panthers declared DE Mario Addison, QB Cam Newton, OLB Christian Miller, OT Greg Little, OL Bryan Witzmann and LB Jordan Kunaszyk inactive for Week 9 against the Titans.
Addison remains away from the team following the death of his brother. First-rounder Brian Burns, who has been unhappy with his playing time, will pick up the bulk of Addison’s lost snaps.
