Green

In the words of AzCardinals.com’s Darren Urban, Green will serve as “insurance” for CB/PR Patrick Peterson against the Seahawks. Arizona’s Pro Bowl-bound first-round pick is a game-time decision with an Achilles injury.

Green was needed because Vontae Davis is expected to miss some time with a knee injury. Davis has already been ruled out for Week 9. Hughes takes the vacant spot in the Indianapolis backfield created by the release of Mewelde Moore. Hughes will be limited to special teams duty.

“He has grown tremendously,” Whisenhunt said of Roberts. “Now, he almost made another knucklehead move last week when he was too close to that ball inside the 10, but in all facets of his game, the lights have come on and he has really started to play well. I am pleased with him in that role.” Former practice squader Marshay Green had been given consideration for the role.

The Cardinals desperately need help in the secondary, but Green will likely be limited to special teams duty.

Andre Roberts has done very little, and Green returned punts in his college days at Mississippi. He’ll also provide depth for a struggling defensive backfield.

Green goes to make room for Brandon McDonald; Mauia for undrafted rookie waiver claim Jerome Johnson. Togafau started twice in the preseason.
