Sele

Sele is working his way back from shoulder surgery.

Anaheim will go with a four-man rotation for this last week of the season with Bartolo Colon, Kelvim Escobar and Jarrod Washburn all getting two starts this week against the Rangers and A’s.

Sele will start again Friday at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Sele, coming back from shoulder surgery, will make his first rehab start for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.

Tom Hicks is getting cheaper by the year. The Indians are also showing interest in Sele.

Sele’s previous rehab starts were at Single-A. The plan is for him to make another start for Salt Lake on Sunday and join the Angels next week, but with Kevin Appier going on the DL, it’s possible they might bump him up a bit.

Sele has pitched poorly since coming off the DL, going 1-3 with a 9.00 ERA. Good move by Scioscia to allow his struggling pitcher to face the Devil Rays, however.

Sele is scheduled to make his season debut in Toronto on Saturday.

Sele will fit into the spot vacated by Kevin Appier going on the DL, allowing Scot Shields to return to the bullpen.

Many of the outs were said to be well hit. Sele is the big question mark on the Angels staff. If healthy and reasonable effective, the team could deal Jarrod Washburn or Ramon Ortiz. If Sele pitches like last season, it’s tough to figure out where he fits on the team.
