Ravenelle was removed from Saturday’s game due to pain in his pitching elbow, but an MRI came back negative and a second opinion confirmed the diagnosis. It’s good news, but it’s unclear when he’ll be ready to return to game action. Ravenelle, 24, posted a 3.88 ERA and 57/33 K/BB ratio over 58 innings between High-A and Double-A last season.

It will be his first time throwing off a mound since he felt some soreness in his pitching elbow last week. Ravenelle will likely begin the season at Triple-A Toledo.

He retired one batter and was charged with two walks but no runs. The 24-year-old prospect was battling for a bullpen slot after posting a 3.88 ERA in 58 innings split between Single-A and Double-A last season.

He’ll receive a second opinion, but it looks like Ravenelle dodged a serious injury here. It’s unclear when he might be cleared to pitch in a game.
