Giants signed RHP Akeel Morris to a minor league contract.
He will report to Double-A Richmond. Morris, 28, had been playing for the independent league Long Island Ducks. He hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2018.

Braves acquired RHP Akeel Morris from the Mets for INF/OF Kelly Johnson.
Morris was a 10th-round pick in 2010 out of a high school in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He posted some decent numbers in the lower levels of the minors, but things have not gone well this season at Double-A. The 23-year-old right-hander is another project for the Braves.

Braves recalled RHP Akeel Morris from Double-A Montgomery.
Acquired from the Mets in June for Kelly Johnson, Morris holds a 3.75 ERA and 66/33 K/BB ratio over 48 relief innings at the Double-A level this season. He could be an interesting relief arm if he works out his control issues.

Braves optioned RHP Akeel Morris to Double-A Mississippi.
The 23-year-old appeared in just one game for the big league club, allowing five runs in 2/3 of an inning. He’ll be back once rosters expand in September.

Braves optioned RHP Akeel Morris to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Morris will head down to the minors with Lucas Sims taking his spot on the roster. The 24-year-old has a 1.23 ERA over eight appearances with the Braves this season and should get another shot soon.

Braves recalled RHP Akeel Morris from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Morris has registered a promising 2.17 ERA and 46/18 K/BB ratio in 37 1/3 innings this season between Double-A and Triple-A. The 24-year-old right-hander will work in middle relief for the Braves.

Mets recalled RHP Akeel Morris from High-A St. Lucie.
It’s an aggressive promotion for the 22-year-old reliever, who has never appeared in a game above High-A ball. He had registered a 1.69 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and 46/14 K/BB ratio in 32 innings this season for St. Lucie.

The Mets are expected to recall Akeel Morris from High-A St. Lucie on Monday.
The 22-year-old right-hander has never pitched above High-A ball but does own a 2.80 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 332/136 K/BB ratio over 247 1/3 minor league innings. He shifted to the bullpen full-time during the 2014 season and became a dominant late-inning reliever. It’s unclear what his role will be with the club or how short his stay will be.

Mets optioned RHP Akeel Morris to Double-A Binghamton.
Morris didn’t have the MLB debut on Wednesday, allowing five runs while recording just two outs against the Blue Jays. He immediately got demoted after the game but earned a promotion, jumping from High-A St. Lucie to Double-A Binghamton. The right-hander still has a bright future as a reliever despite Wednesday’s struggles.

Mets RHP prospect Akeel Morris struck out nine and walked one in three innings Wednesday for Low-A Savannah.
Morris walked the first batter he faced then struck out the next nine of 10 batters en route to three shutout innings -- which included four strikeouts in the eighth inning due to a passed ball. Morris was the third pitcher of the night and needed 47 pitches to get through three innings, so his ultimate role is still unclear. The Mets have taken it very slowly with Morris, as he has only just now reached a full-season league in his third full season of professional baseball. Morris has the potential to be a front of the rotation stalwart, but he has never pitched more than 61 1/3 innings in a given year. If he is developed as a reliever, he could be in Queens before the end of 2015.
