Alberto Bastardo allowed one unearned run in 5 1/3 innings and struck out 10 Friday in his second start for Single-A Vero Beach.
Bastardo, a 22-year-old left-hander, hasn’t allowed an earned run since moving up. He was 3-1 with a 1.39 ERA, 22 H and 33/14 K/BB in 32 1/3 IP for low Single-A Columbus. Taken from the Orioles in Dec. 2005, he has a chance to be a rare minor league Rule 5 pick that turns into a major leaguer.
