  • Mets purchased the contracts of OF Ambiorix Concepcion, OF Angel Pagan and RHP Matt Lindstrom and added them to their 40-man roster.
Concepcion was in the New York-Penn League last season, but he already had to be added to the 40-man roster. The Mets are going to need him to move quickly. He’s capable of doing so.
  • Ambiorix Concepcion reached base four times and stole his third and fourth bases for Single-A St. Lucie on Monday.
Concepcion walked twice and is 7-for-18 with four walks in the early going. Last year, he had a 136/22 K/BB ratio in 521 AB for low Single-A Hagerstown, which is part of the reason he was dropped from the Mets’ 40-man roster in November.
  • Mets sent outfielder Ambiorix Concepcion outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
Concepcion was thought of as one of the Mets’ best prospects a year ago, but he was older than believed then and he hit just .251/.289/.413 in his first exposure to full-season ball last year. He’s not completely hopeless, but this was the right move for the Mets. Even if he makes progress, he wasn’t likely to be ready before he ran out of option years.
  • Ambiorix Concepcion made his debut for Double-A Binghamton on Saturday and went 0-for-3.
Concepcion, 22, was moved up after hitting .287/.343/.387 with 18 steals for Single-A St. Lucie. It’s likely that he’ll hit for more power now that he’s out of the Florida State League, but he’s still going to have a tough time putting up quality numbers in Double-A. Maybe next year.
  • Mets prospect Ambiorix Concepcion is recovering from a broken foot suffered in winter ball and won’t begin the minor league season on time.
Concepcion is probably going to play at Double-A Binghamton once healthy.
