Marlins signed LHP Beau Jones to a minor league contract.

Sosnick Cobbe Sports announced via their Twitter page that the Marlins have signed left-hander Beau Jones.
The Marlins have yet to make an official announcement. Jones was a supplemental first round pick of the Braves back in 2005 and was later shipped to the Rangers in the Mark Teixeira trade. Now 25 years old, the southpaw posted a 3.63 ERA and 54/26 K/BB ratio over 62 innings with Triple-A Round Rock this past season.

    Marlins released LHP Beau Jones.
Jones, supplemental first-round pick of the Braves back in 2005, signed a minor league deal with the Marlins over the winter and posted an ugly 7.54 ERA and 17/20 K/BB ratio over 22 2/3 innings with Triple-A New Orleans. The 25-year-old southpaw will attempt to latch on elsewhere.

Athletics signed LHP Beau Jones to a minor league contract; assigned him to Double-A Midland.
Jones was released by the Marlins last week after posting a 7.54 ERA and 17/20 K/BB ratio in 22 2/3 innings with Triple-A New Orleans. The former supplemental first-round pick could struggle to ever reach the bigs.

LHP Beau Jones was traded from the Braves to the Rangers in a seven-player deal.
Not to be confused with outfielder Brandon Jones, one of the Braves’ top prospects. Jones, 21, has been a mild disappointment since being drafted with a supplemental first-round pick in 2005. He had a 2.96 ERA in 48 2/3 innings as a reliever for low Single-A Rome this year. The Rangers will probably try him out as a starter next year, but the bullpen might be his long-term home.

Beau Jones had surgery last week to remove bone chips from his left elbow.
Jones, a 2005 supplemental first-round pick of the Braves, was acquired in the Mark Teixeria deal at the deadline. He’ll likely spend all of 2008 in the minors.
