Jones, 25, posted a 3.63 ERA and 54/26 K/BB ratio over 62 innings this year at the Triple-A level. He was a supplemental first-round pick of the Braves back in ’05.

Now 25 years old, the southpaw posted a 3.63 ERA and 54/26 K/BB ratio over 62 innings with Triple-A Round Rock this past season.

Jones, supplemental first-round pick of the Braves back in 2005, signed a minor league deal with the Marlins over the winter and posted an ugly 7.54 ERA and 17/20 K/BB ratio over 22 2/3 innings with Triple-A New Orleans. The 25-year-old southpaw will attempt to latch on elsewhere.

Not to be confused with outfielder Brandon Jones, one of the Braves’ top prospects. Jones, 21, has been a mild disappointment since being drafted with a supplemental first-round pick in 2005. He had a 2.96 ERA in 48 2/3 innings as a reliever for low Single-A Rome this year. The Rangers will probably try him out as a starter next year, but the bullpen might be his long-term home.

Jones, a 2005 supplemental first-round pick of the Braves, was acquired in the Mark Teixeria deal at the deadline. He’ll likely spend all of 2008 in the minors.
