Cardinals acquired infielder Bill Selby from the Indians for catcher Clint Chauncey.
Selby apparently will become a utilityman on the Cardinals, probably replacing either Kerry Robinson or So Taguchi on the roster. There are better options on Triple-A rosters of other teams, but the Cardinals didn’t want to give up any kind of real prospect to acquire one. Chauncey, 22, was hitting .294 in 15 games for Single-A Peoria.
