White, 28, joined the Rangers organization after failing to make the Nationals out of spring training. He ended up striking out 66 in 48 2/3 innings for Frisco, but that came with 26 walks and 48 hits allowed. He’s probably going to have a tough time in the majors.

He had to head to Alabama to deal with a family health problem. It’s unknown how serious the issue is or when he’s expected to return to the club.

He’s been away dealing with family matter for the past couple of days.

White missed two games to attend to a family matter.

White won’t be eligible to pitch for the team in April after being released by the Rangers last week.

White would be ineligible to pitch in the majors during the first month of the season if he re-signed with the Rangers.

Why hold to him this long and then release him? They were going to need the 40-man roster spot for the eventual addition of Kazuo Fukumori, but they could have just tried to outright White to Triple-A. That they’re doing it this way suggests he was injured recently or involved in some sort of transgression.

White was sent down Saturday in a paperwork move. The 29-year-old had a 3.54 ERA in 50 relief appearances for Triple-A Oklahoma before initially being called up by the Rangers last week.

White, 29, made his major league debut with Texas last September, allowing five runs in 9 1/3 innings. He had a 3.54 ERA in 50 relief appearances for Oklahoma this season.

Optioning him to Bakersfield allows him to be recalled when rosters expand on Monday. Had the Rangers instead chosen Triple-A Oklahoma, White would have had to wait a while longer to rejoin the team.
