    Brandon Short underwent surgery Monday to repiar a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
    Short suffered the injury while crashing into the outfield wall in a Cactus League game. The 23-year-old outfielder has already been ruled out for all of 2012.

    Short is likely to be shut down for a couple of weeks and may get off to a delayed start this season. The 23-year-old outfielder batted .262/.318/.411 with 13 homers and 21 steals in 130 games last year at Double-A.

    Short was recently released by the White Sox. The 24-year-old has batted just .204/.306/.304 with one homer and four steals this season between Double- and Triple-A. He’s been assigned to Double-A Pensacola.

    White Sox reassigned OF Brandon Short, RHP Kyle Bellamy, LHP Charlie Leesman and Cs Josh Phegley and Jared Price to minor league camp.
    Not a surprise in the bunch, though these are all pretty decent prospects. Short, 22, batted .316/.365/.491 with 15 homers and 79 RBI over 544 plate appearances with High-A Winston-Salem last season. He was recently ranked as the organization’s No. 8 prospect by Baseball America.
