Tallet will seek a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews before deciding on a course of action. Surgery is possible.

The injury makes it unlikely that Tallet will return to Cleveland before Sept. 1.

Tallet could require Tommy John surgery if doctors find further damage. Recovery time for the open procedure alone is 6-8 weeks.

It was the lefthander’s third rehab appearance as he tries to come back from Tommy John elbow surgery. Tallet is hoping to pitch in the majors some time in September.

Tallet had been called up twice before this season, but was never used. He was recovering from Tommy John surgery.

At least he got to make one appearance this time. Tallet will be recalled when roster’s expand.

Tallet, making his first start since 2003, gave up the run, which was unearned. He walked four in 2 1/3 hitless innings before being replaced by Accardo, who allowed both hits in 2 2/3 innings of work. That earned him the win. League took over to start the sixth and retired 12 of the 13 hitters he faced for his first major league save.

If Scott Downs is needed to make a start or two before A.J. Burnett returns, Tallet can replace him in long relief. He won’t have any fantasy value.

Tallet allowed one run in 3 2/3 innings of relief in his lone appearance during his four days with the Jays.

Tallet will pitch in middle relief for now, but he figures to make at least a few starts before season’s end. He’s not currently an option in AL-only leagues.
