Cubs signed RHP Carlos Martinez to a minor league contract.
Martinez, 20, is a 6-foot-4 right-hander with a fastball that reportedly clocks in the low 90s. He is considered a ''work in progress,’' by Baseball America, and was used primarily as a reliever while in Cuba.
