Ramirez has logged only 25 career innings at the major league level, but it has come with an impressive 2.88 ERA and 0.84 WHIP. The 27-year-old right-hander could get a look out of the Cubs’ bullpen at some point in 2019.

A converted outfielder, Ramirez allowed only two unearned runs while boasting a 45/10 K/BB ratio over 37 2/3 relief innings between Double- and Triple-A this season. The 26-year-old will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.

Ramirez pitched well in his cup of coffee with the Jays last season but was off to a rough start at Buffalo with a 9.00 ERA and six walks over six innings. He will give the Jays a fresh bullpen arm.

Ramirez cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and will remain in the organization as relief depth.

The A’s needed to clear room on the 40-man roster for Boog Powell, who was taken off the 60-day disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Nashville. Ramirez appeared in five games for the Blue Jays and A’s this season with a 3.24 ERA over five relief appearances. If not claimed, he’ll likely report back to Nashville and serve as organizational depth.

Ramirez had been designated for assignment a week ago. He’ll provide relief depth for Oakland.

Ramirez worked two scoreless innings on Wednesday against the Rays and boasts a 2.57 ERA and 0.81 WHIP in 21 career major league frames, but the A’s needed to clear out a 25-man roster spot for the return of Khris Davis.

Cahill will be available out of the A’s bullpen on Thursday afternoon against the Astros. He has a 2.57 ERA and 0.81 WHIP in 21 career major league innings.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Deck McGuire. Ramirez will probably clear waivers.

Ramirez allowed one run and walked five over 2 1/3 innings across two appearances during his short stint in the majors.
