Double-A New Hampshire’s Chip Cannon went 3-for-4 with two homers, four RBI and a walk on Sunday.
Cannon, a 2004 eighth-round pick out of The Citadel, put up big numbers in A ball last year, but he’s had trouble hitting for average against Double-A pitching. He’s currently at .237/.330/.434 in 198 at-bats. The 24-year-old might top out as a Triple-A player.

Double-A New Hampshire’s Chip Cannon homered twice and walked twice in Thursday’s game.
Cannon, a 2004 eighth-round pick out of The Citadel, had his best month of the season in August and is now batting .251/.336/.484 with 27 homers in 463 at-bats. He’ll have to do a better job of hitting for average in Triple-A if he’s going to have a future in the majors.

Chip Cannon’s 11th homer of the AFL season was a walkoff shot in the 10th inning to give Phoenix a victory on Tuesday.
Cannon has five more homers than anyone else in the league and he’s also on top with a 1333 OPS in 80 at-bats. Next are Kevin Frandsen at 1223 and Ryan Braun at 1133.

Chip Cannon blasted his AFL-leading sixth and seventh homers Thursday for Phoenix.
Cannon, a 2004 eighth-round pick out of The Citadel, is batting .375/.475/.854 in 48 at-bats. It’s hitting for average that was a problem at Double-A New Hampshire this year, as he finished at .248/.335/.476 with 27 homers in 475 at-bats. He turns 25 at the end of next month, so he’s a long shot to have a career in the majors. He’d have to prove he can hit .280-.290 anyway in Triple-A in order to earn an opportunity.

Chip Cannon went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in the final game of the AFL season on Thursday.
Cannon slowed down late in the season -- his final homer came on Nov. 7 -- but he still won two third of the triple crown catgeories, leading the league with 11 homers and 29 RBI. His .352 average ranked fourth.

Jays prospect Chip Cannon went 3-for-3 with two homers and two walks Monday for Phoenix of the AFL.
Cannon, 24, hit .248/.335/.476 with 27 homers for Double-A New Hampshire this year. He’s probably going to top out as a Triple-A player unless he does a better job of hitting for average.

Double-A New Hampshire’s Chip Cannon struck out all five times he was up on Friday and is off to a 3-for-23 start.
We’re guessing he’s more than a little frustrated at being asked to repeat Double-A. Cannon had a respectable 810 OPS at New Hampshire last year and then hit 11 homers in the Arizona Fall League, giving him five more than anyone else in the circuit. He deserved a promotion to Triple-A.
