Chris Begg pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings and struck out four for Zulia of the VWL yesterday.
Begg, a 26-year-old signed out of the Northern League in 2003, went 8-7 with a 3.07 ERA, 142 H and 86/28 K/BB in 138 IP for Double-A Norwich this season. That the Giants never tested him with Triple-A can be taken as an indication of how he fits into their plans. Begg has a very good track record, but because of his below average stuff, middle relief is his upside.
