Jason Castro (knee) remains out of Houston’s lineup.
Castro sprained his right knee on Sept. 2 and had it drained when an MRI revealed a cyst. He gutted it out on Friday and Saturday, but hasn’t played since. “We just want to make sure that this is not something that’s going to linger into the offseason,” said manager Bo Porter, “so we’re taking all precautions.” Cody Clark and Carlos Corporan figure to share at-bats until Castro returns.
  • HOU Catcher
Astros sent C Cody Clark outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Clark was pressed into action late in the season, posting a .105/.128/.132 line in 38 at-bats. The 31-year-old can elect minor league free agency after the World Series in lieu of the assignment.
  • HOU Catcher
Astros purchased the contract of C Cody Clark from Double-A Corpus Christi.
The ‘Stros have had to dip into their catching depth with both Carlos Corporan and Max Stassi dealing with concussions. Clark, who will turn 32 next month, has never appeared in a major league game. The career .247/.320/.372 minor league hitter will back up Jason Castro.
