Rasmus, who turned 25 earlier this month, posted a 3.68 ERA, seven saves and 62/32 K/BB ratio over 58 2/3 relief innings this season at the Double-A level. Colby’s brother likely would have drawn interest in the Rule 5 Draft if he wasn’t added to the 40-man roster.

Rasmus has a 0.93 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 21/9 K/BB ratio in 19 1/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level. The younger brother of Blue Jays center fielder Colby Rasmus, he should do well in a middle relief role.

The move clears a spot for Jordan Walden’s return from the disabled list. Rasmus gave up five runs in 3 2/3 innings over two appearances during his brief stay with the club. He could get another shot in the Braves’ bullpen later this summer.

The younger brother of Blue Jays outfielder Colby Rasmus will serve merely as bullpen depth for Atlanta. He allowed five hits, three walks and five runs in 3 2/3 innings of relief earlier this season with the Braves.

He’ll serve as the 26th man for Tuesday’s doubleheader with the Mets. Rasmus has allowed five runs on five hits and three walks over 3 2/3 innings with the Braves this season.

Rasmus, 25, was acquired from the Braves for Scott Downs at the trade deadline and will provide bullpen depth. He has a 2.79 ERA over nine appearances at the Triple-A level.

Rasmus underwent core surgery a year ago March, too, which makes the Angels’ announcement that much more concerning. This season, he has already landed on the disabled list twice due to a groin injury. His upcoming surgery could well cost him the remainder of what is rapidly turning into a lost 2016 season.

Rasmus just returned from a groin strain last Thursday, but he has apparently aggravated the injury. The Angels have added Al Alburquerque and A.J. Achter to their bullpen for Monday’s game versus the Twins.

The move cleared a spot on the 40-man roster for Ji-Man Choi. Rasmus could be out for the season following core surgery.

Rasmus underwent core muscle surgery in early July. He’s running out of time to get in some rehab appearances before the minor league season ends, but the hope remains that he can return at some point next month.
