Dalton Shuffield hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning to lead the Twins to a 5-3 win over the Pirates on Saturday.
It came in Shuffield’s lone at-bat, so he has a 5.000 OPS after one game. A 10th-rounder in 2022, Shuffield hit .264/.274/.398 in 66 games at four levels last season. He turns 25 next month, so he’s going to need to put up big numbers this year in order to put himself on the major league radar. That he can play second and third and in the outfield could give him a shot at winning a bench gig someday.
