Free-agent catcher Damian Miller, who made $3 million last season, is seeking a three-year deal.
Good luck with that, Damian. The A’s would like to bring the 35-year-old back on a one-year contract, but with the lack of catching out there, Miller may get $5 million over two years from another team. We wouldn’t be surprised to see the A’s try to lure Doug Mirabelli to Oakland with the promise of regular playing time. They’re also one of the teams that should be interested in Ramon Castro.

Damian Miller’s agent said the catcher will sign with the first team to offer him a three-year deal.
We assume there is some monetary standard to go along with it. Miller is scheduled to meet today with the Brewers. Agent Mark Garber said he wouldn’t see it as a problem if the Red Sox signed Miller and continued negotiating with Jason Varitek, suggesting that Miller would be comfortable as a backup or would be open to a trade.

Brewers GM Doug Melvin, assistant Gord Ash and manager Ned Yost traveled to Damian Miller’s home for a visit yesterday.
Miller might prefer to join a playoff team like the Red Sox or Dodgers, but more than anything, he seems to want a three-year deal. The Brewers could have him if they’re willing to offer one.

Damian Miller will get a three-year, $8.75 million contract from the Brewers after passing a physical.
As part of the deal, he will earn $3.25 million in each of the next two seasons and the Brewers would have a 2007 option at $3.75 million. If the Brewers decline the option, Miller would get a player option at $2.25 million.

The Brewers should know whether Damian Miller’s contract will be finalized by Tuesday at the latest.
The team does have concerns about Miller’s throwing shoulder after an MRI turned up an undisclosed problem. The delay from last week was caused by difficulties in getting a second opinion.

The Brewers are expected to announced today that they’ve agreed to terms with Damian Miller on a three-year contract worth about $3 million per year.
Doug Melvin has done some good things since taking over as Milwaukee’s GM, but we’ve disliked every multiyear deal he’s handed out. How does it make sense for a non-contender to give a 35-year-old catcher a three-year deal? Miller apparently picked the Brewers after the Red Sox refused to add a season to their two-year offer. The Dodgers had interest but never made a formal offer.

Damian Miller is on a regimented throwing program to strengthen his shoulder.
''When we got him, the trainers detected some weakness in his throwing arm, from wear and tear,’' manager Ned Yost said. ''So, we put him on a throwing program. Common sense dictates it. He’s ready to go, 100%.’' The 35-year-old Miller says he’s ready to let loose, but the Brewers want to protect their investment.
