David Freese announced his retirement on Saturday.
This move is a bit surprising considering 2019 was the best season of his career by some measures. He set new career highs with a .315 batting average, a .403 on-base percentage and a .599 slugging percentage this year with the Dodgers, although those numbers came in just 186 plate appearances over 79 games. He was used sparingly in ideal situations but there is no reason why a team couldn’t do that for him again next year if was willing to stick around. The 36-year-old will hang up his cleats with a career .277/.351/.423 slash line with 113 home runs and 535 RBI in 11 seasons. He played for the Cardinals, Angels, Pirates and Dodgers. He made the All Star team in 2012 with the Cardinals.

David Freese will be in the lineup on Thursday for Game One of the NLDS against the Nationals.
The Dodgers are going to go right-handed heavy against Patrick Corbin, so that means that Freese, Chris Taylor, Will Smith and AJ Pollock will be in the lineup to begin the contest. It makes sense to load up on righties with the southpaw on the mound; especially one as good as Corbin. Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager and Max Muncy will be the only lefties in the lineup.

David Freese hit a solo home run in his return from the injured list Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
Making his first start since the middle of July after missing time due to a hamstring strain, Freese reached out and lifted an Alex Young delivery over the wall in center field for a solo dinger in the first inning. The homer was the 10th of the year for the 36-year-old, who’s got a stellar .303/.400/.599 line in 68 games with the Dodgers. The club will continue to deploy him as a part-timer as they angle toward having everyone healthy and firing on all cylinders come October.

Dodgers activated first baseman David Freese from the 10-day injured list.
Finally the Dodgers’ plans to have 15 infielders active at once can come to fruition. Freese, who is hitting an exceptional .300/.399/.579 in 163 PA this year, will start at first base against lefties.

David Freese (hamstring) will come off the injured list on Sunday.
Freese will come up when rosters expand for the Dodgers. He’s been on the shelf since near the end of July with a hamstring strain. It’d be a surprise if he received significant playing time down the stretch, but he could be an option off the bench for the playoff-bound Dodgers.

David Freese (hamstring) was seen running the bases on Thursday.
Ken Gurnick of MLB.com confirms Freese is on track for a September 1 activation. A hamstring strain has shelved the corner infielder since late July.

David Freese (hamstring) might not be activated until September 1.
Freese is on the injured list for the second time due to a left hamstring strain and the Dodgers want to make sure it’s a non-issue before he comes back. The additions of Tyler White and Jedd Gyorko give the Dodgers some protection while Freese is out.

Dodgers placed INF David Freese on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
It’s the same injury that sent him to the IL late last month. Tyler White was officially added to the roster in Freese’s place.

David Freese went 1-for-4 with a go-ahead two-run homer and a walk to propel the Dodgers to a 7-2 win over the Phillies on Wednesday.
Freese mashed a go-ahead tater off Phillies reliever Juan Nicasio to give the Dodgers a 4-2 lead in the seventh inning. The marathon affair took a whopping three hours and 58 minutes to complete and also featured a two and a half hour rain delay. The 36-year-old veteran infielder has now gone deep nine times in 61 games this season. He’s an extremely valuable role player for the Dodgers.

Dodgers activated 1B/3B David Freese from the 10-day injured list.
Freese will be ready to rock for the start of the second half after missing a little over two weeks with a left hamstring strain. The 36-year-old corner infielder boasts a .308/.407/.592 batting line with eight home runs and 23 RBI in 56 games this season with Los Angeles.
