Anna, 32, appeared in 13 games between the Yankees and Cardinals from 2014-2015. He spent last season with the Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate, batting .271/.367/.341 with one home run and nine stolen bases in 122 games.

Anna can play all around the diamond defensively. He carries no fantasy relevance in a utility role.

He had been designated for assignment but has cleared waivers and will remain in the organization. Anna has hit just .136/.200/.318 over 12 games in the majors this season.

The 27-year-old struggled during his cup of coffee with the Yankees earlier this season, slashing a mere .136/.200/.318 in his 25 plate appearances. He’ll function as organizational depth for the Pirates.
