White Sox purchased the contract of RHP Ehren Wassermann from Triple-A Charlotte.
Wassermann, 26, will be making his major league debut after compiling a 2.11 ERA in 38 relief appearances for Charlotte. It’s unlikely that he’ll find a permanent home in the White Sox pen -- he doesn’t have enough on his fastball to make life difficult for left-handed hitters -- but he is worth trying.

White Sox reassigned LHP Aaron Poreda, 1B Ben Broussard, INF Gordon Beckham and INF Eider Torres to minor league camp; optioned RHP Adam Russell and RHP Ehren Wassermann to Triple-A Charlotte.
Poreda was given a long look, but he didn’t deserve a job after giving up nine runs and posting a 7/7 K/BB ratio in 13 innings. Beckham greatly impressed, hitting .270/.325/.568. The White Sox are planning on leaving him at shortstop for now, and he’ll be a regular there in Double-A. The demotions of Russell and Wassermann suggest that Mike MacDougal has a legitimate shot to reclaim a spot in the White Sox pen. Also, Jack Egbert is still hanging around.

White Sox sent RHP Ehren Wassermann outright to Triple-A Charlotte.
Wassermann was originally optioned to Charlotte on March 25. He was 1-2 with a 7.78 ERA in 24 games last season for Chicago. The move opens up a spot on the White Sox’s 40-man roster.

White Sox recalled RHP Ehren Wassermann from Triple-A Charlotte.
Wasserman has given up 15 earned runs in 15 innings for the White Sox this season, but he had been great in Triple-A of late, striking out 18 in 12 scoreless innings during August.

White Sox recalled RHP Ehren Wassermann from Triple-A Charlotte.
Wassermann allowed 11 earned runs in 6 2/3 innings for the White Sox earlier in the year, but has torn up Triple-A since his demotion on June 4. He has posted a 1.67 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 24 games for Charlotte this season.

It’s all about options. Wasserman outperformed Nick Masset this spring and was a fine reliever for the White Sox last season, but since he can be sent down and Masset probably wouldn’t clear waivers, he’ll return to Triple-A for a little while. Masset will pitch in middle relief.

Ehren Wassermann was charged with another two runs while recording just one out on Sunday, taking his ERA to 29.70.
Wasserman has allowed 11 runs in 3 1/3 innings over the course of nine appearances, so he can’t be kept around for much longer. He did a pretty nice job for the White Sox as a righty specialist last year, but he’s lost right now.

White Sox recalled RHP Ehren Wassermann from Triple-A Charlotte.
Wasserman was closing games at Charlotte, and had not allowed a hit over 7 2/3 innings while picking up six saves. The White Sox opened a roster spot when they optioned Mike MacDougal to Triple-A late Saturday night.

The surprises is that it’s taken this long. Wasserman had allowed 11 earned runs in 6 2/3 innings since being recalled on April 27.
