Nationals designated INF/OF Emilio Bonifacio for assignment.
Bonifacio drew only three total at-bats during his nearly two week-stay on the Nationals’ roster and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and a walk. The utilityman turned 35 years old in April.

Nationals purchased the contract of INF/OF Emilio Bonifacio.
Bonifacio looks poised to serve as a super-utilityman for the Nats to open the 2020 season after inking a minor league deal with the club in January. He hasn’t appeared in a major league game since 2017.

Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post believes that Javy Guerra could replace Hunter Strickland on the 26-man roster.
The Nationals released Strickland on Saturday, and it not only clears up a spot on the 26-man roster, it also makes room on the 40-man. That is necessary to add Guerra, who was re-signed in December to a minor league contract. Dougherty also mentions that the Nationals could go with a third catcher like Welington Castillo, or utility-man Emilio Bonifacio.

Nationals signed INF/OF Emilio Bonifacio to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
He would earn a $1 million salary if he makes the major league roster. Bonifacio turns 35 in April and hasn’t appeared in the majors since 2017. He played with the Rays’ Triple-A affiliate last year, batting .286/.353/.475 over 76 games.

Emilio Bonifacio went 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI as the Rays fell to the Phillies in Grapefruit League action on Saturday.
The 34-year-old singled twice and swiped a base in the contest. He hasn’t played in the big leagues since 2017, but is looking to latch onto the Rays’ Opening Day roster in a utility role.

Rays signed INF/OF Emilio Bonifacio to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Bonifacio turns 34 in April and spent most of last season in independent ball before signing a minor league deal with the Brewers late in the year. He’s a familiar name, but he’s unlikely to surface with the major league club.

Emilio Bonifacio went 2-for-7 with a run scored and three strikeouts in Monday’s extra-inning win over the Braves.
Fresh off a 12-game hitting streak in which he enjoyed seven multi-hit contests, Bonifacio continued to build on a career year. While his 112 strikeouts should not be ignored, his .364 OPS and 36 steals are very impressive lead-off hitter numbers.

Emilio Bonifacio went 3-for-4 with a double in Friday’s loss to the Brewers.
The three-hit night was Bonifacio’s fourth of the month. Now batting .330 in September after hitting just .241 in August, Bonifacio is the owner of a solid .292/.359/.381 triple slash on the season.

Emilio Bonifacio stole his eighth and ninth bases Thursday versus the Cubs.
The top three hitters in the Miami lineup have combined for 16 steals in 13 games. Bonifacio has the majority of them, but Jose Reyes has chipped in with four and Hanley Ramirez stole his third today. Bonifacio might be a threat to lead the league in steals with the way Ozzie Guillen has his team running.

Jose Reyes was dropped to second in the batting order in Saturday’s game against the Diamondbacks.
The Marlins are shaking things up in an effort to jump start their struggling lineup. Emilio Bonifacio, not Reyes, is batting leadoff Saturday. Reyes is hitting just .205 (15-for-73) this season.
