Red Sox signed outfielder Engel Beltre and shortstop Moises Tejeda to minor league contracts.
Beltre reportedly received a $600,000 bonus and Tejeda got $550,000. The 16-year-olds were ranked second and fourth, respectively, on ESPN’s ranking of the newly available Latin American prospects. Beltre is a left-handed hitter and center fielder with power potential. Tejeda is a toolsy shortstop with a big-time arm.

Engel Beltre is nursing a strained muscle in the back of his left shoulder.
He has been examined by an orthopedist, who found no structural damage. Beltre could need more tests, though, and it’s possible he’ll have to pull out of playing for Spain in the World Baseball Classic.

Beltre underwent surgery in early April for a fractured right tibia and has been in recovery mode through the first three months of the 2014 season. The outfielder will likely be sent to Triple-A once he’s healthy.

Beltre has been out all season while recovering from surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right leg. He will probably head to Triple-A once he’s activated.

Rangers placed OF Engel Beltre on the 60-day disabled list with a fractured right tibia.
Beltre suffered the injury earlier this week. It’s not clear at this point how long he’ll be sidelined, but obviously he won’t be an option for the Rangers for at least the first two months of the season.

Engel Beltre was diagnosed Monday with a fractured right tibia and is out indefinitely.
It could be a lengthy rehab process. Beltre, 24, batted .292/.340/.398 with seven home runs and 15 stolen bases in 94 games last season at Triple-A Round Rock. He’s not really considered a top prospect anymore.
