Triple-A Norfolk’s Esix Snead is out for the season with a broken collarbone.
Snead was batting .264/.348/.316 for Norfolk. It wasn’t likely, but there was some chance that he could have joined the Mets next month as a pinch-running specialist.

Braves signed outfielder Esix Snead to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Snead, 28, is one of the fastest players in the minors, but he doesn’t hit enough to be a useful fifth outfielder. He’s only worthy of a roster spot in September.

Esix Snead has been suspended for 10 games for his part in a Triple-A brawl.
Snead rushed the mound from first base and blindsided David Bush in the back of the head with his batting helmet, which ranks pretty high up on the list of things not to do during a baseball game.

Non-roster invitees Roosevelt Brown and Esix Snead are competing for the fifth outfielder job, and prospect Jeff Francoeur will get consideration.
Francoeur needs to play every day, so this comes down to Brown and Snead. Ryan Langerhans already has a grasp on the fourth OF spot.

Mets re-signed outfielder Esix Snead to a minor league contract.
Snead is still one of the fastest players in the minors. And he still can’t hit. He finished last season with a .220 average and a 581 OPS for Triple-A Norfolk. The chances of him making it as a reserve outfielder have all but disappeared.

Esix Snead cleared waivers, and reported to Triple-A Norfolk.
    Same with catcher Tom Wilson.

Mets designated outfielder Esix Snead for assignment.
Snead has cleared waivers before, and he shouldn’t have any trouble doing so this time.

Mets purchased the contract of outfielder Esix Snead from Triple-A Norfolk.
The Mets had an open spot on the 40-man roster after dropping James Baldwin, so they opted not to call up Jeff Duncan and take time away from his development. Snead, one of the fastest players in baseball, was hitting .275 in Triple-A, but he had just three walks and two extra-base hits in 80 at-bats. As long as he’s used strictly as a pinch-runner and a defensive replacement, he won’t hurt the Mets. No fantasy value.

Mets optioned outfielder Esix Snead to Triple-A Norfolk.
Snead was used as a pinch-runner tonight in his only appearance for the Mets.
