Reds RHP prospect Franderlyn Romero took a no-hitter into the eighth inning Tuesday in a win for Low-A Dayton.
Kane County’s Jose Queliz broke it up with a two-out single in the eighth, ending Romero’s night after 89 pitches. Romero’s command was incredible—none of the 25 hitters he faced went to a three-ball count. He also finished with a career-high 12 strikeouts. The right-hander had set down 17 in a row before the hit by Queliz. Opponents had actually performed relatively well against Romero before Tuesday, hitting .316 across 76 at-bats.
