He’ll take the place of Jose Lopez on the active roster. Herrmann, who made 80 appearances with the Indians from 2010-2011, has a 4.28 ERA and 53/18 K/BB ratio over 48 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level this year. He’ll pitch in middle relief.

It’s a tough blow for Herrmann, who made 15 relief appearances with the Indians last season. The 28-year-old will now have to set his sights on getting ready for 2014.
