Gabriel Moya fired a scoreless first inning as the Twins opener against the Tigers on Monday.
Moya gave up only one hit, a two-out single by Nicholas Castellanos, and also recorded a strikeout. The 23-year-old southpaw made his third appearance as an opener this month. He’s allowed just two runs across five innings in that specialized role. He’s 3-1 with a 4.73 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 29/12 K/BB ratio in 29 appearances (three starts). He doesn’t offer enough volume to be relevant in shallow mixed leagues right now, but the Twins have carved out an intriguing role for him long-term.
