Padres 3B prospect Gabriel Quintana plated a career-high six runs Tuesday in a win for Double-A San Antonio.
Quintana finished a triple shy of the cycle while guiding the Missions to a 6-0 win over Frisco. The 23-year-old ranks third in the Southern League with 72 RBI this year. He’s also fourth in home runs (20) and fifth in doubles (26). Despite his overwhelming power, Quintana’s high strikeout rate (121 strikeouts in 404 at-bats) and low on base percentage (.293) have slowed his path to the majors.

While he has impressive power, he has always struggled with strikeouts, registering a 138/20 K/BB ratio last season.
