Rockies 1B prospect Grant Lavigne went 1-for-3 with a homer and a walk for Low-A Asheville on Monday.
Lavigne has his second homer of the season with the blast. That’s a low total -- and not what you’re looking for from a first baseman -- but the 42nd pick of last year’s draft has plus power potential, so expect the bombs to start coming as the season progresses. He also has an excellent approach and makes hard contact to the opposite field, so a plus hit tool is also possible. Lavigne is one of the top first baseman prospect in baseball, and the fact that he gets a chance to play in Coors Field someday -- assuming no trade -- is an added benefit. He should be up by 2021.
