Burke, 29, posted a 5.70 ERA and 76/40 K/BB ratio over 79 innings with Triple-A Tucson in the Padres’ organization last season. He hasn’t pitched in a big-league game since 2009 and will likely serve as organizational depth.

He’ll also get an invite to spring training. Burke pitched in the minors with the Orioles last season and posted an outstanding 1.53 ERA, 17 saves and a 50/15 K/BB ratio over 64 2/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A. The 30-year-old right-hander hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2009 as a member of the Padres.

Burke was signed to a minor league deal earlier this month, and now he’s been added to the 40-man roster. He posted a 1.53 ERA, 17 saves and a 50/15 K/BB ratio over 64 2/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A with the Orioles in 2012.

Burke struggled in his earlier stint with the Mets, so he’ll be looking for better results this time around. The sidearmer will work in middle relief.

Burke was booted off the 25-man roster to make room for pitcher Carlos Torres. In 20 innings this year with the Mets, Burke has 18 strikeouts and a decent 3.15 ERA.

Burke has posted a 3.15 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 20 innings this season with the Mets. The sidearmer will work in middle relief.

Familia entered camp as a reliever after showing inconsistency as a starter in the minors, and he’s won a spot by posting a 2.19 ERA with 12 strikeouts over 12 1/3 spring innings. He’ll work the middle innings initially.

Burke threw 42 pitches during Tuesday’s doubleheader, so the Mets called up Jeurys Familia in order to have a fresh arm out of the bullpen. The sidearmer figures to return to the big club later this summer.

Burke gave up a home run to one of the two batters he faced in his latest stint with the Mets. He’ll return next month.

Burke was recalled to give the bullpen some innings after Jenrry Mejia left Saturday’s game early. The right-hander has a 4.66 ERA in 29 innings with the Mets this season.
