There is a good chance that Gregg Dobbs will start at third base tonight against the Red Sox and Tim Wakefield.
Maybe he is being rewarded for his home run against Bob Wickman last night in his first big-league at-bat.
  • WSH 1st Baseman
Mariners promoted third baseman Greg Dobbs from Double-A San Antonio to Triple-A Tacoma.
Dobbs was batting .325/.373/.507 for San Antonio. With Jose Lopez out, the Rainiers plan to rotate Dobbs and Justin Leone between third base and shortstop.
  • WSH 1st Baseman
Mariners recalled infielder Greg Dobbs from Triple-A Tacoma.
He takes Scott Spiezio’s roster spot. Dobbs was hitting .327 for Tacoma, but since he had just three homers and 14 walks in 190 at-bats, that was only good for a 783 OPS. He’s not worthy of anything more than a pinch-hitting role.
  • WSH 1st Baseman
Mariners optioned infielder Greg Dobbs to Triple-A Tacoma.
Dobbs was 5-for-17 in his month with the Mariners. He’ll get another opportunity next month, but he might be removed from the 40-man roster again after the season. That’s what happened lsat year.

Mariners recalled infielder Greg Dobbs from Triple-A Tacoma.
Dobbs will reclaim the pinch-hitting role he occupied for a month earlier this season. It’s not something that will give him any fantasy value.
  • WSH 1st Baseman
Greg Dobbs (hamstring) will play five innings in the field in a minor league game Thursday and is expected to ready for Opening Day.
Dobbs says he “absolutely” expects to be ready for Opening Day. He will serve as a utility infielder and pinch hitter for the Marlins this year.
  • SEA 1st Baseman
Gaby Sanchez is not in Thursday’s starting lineup.
It’s simply a routine day off for Sanchez, who has hit just .244/.261/.356 in his first 12 games this season. Greg Dobbs is starting at first base against the Cubs.
  • WSH 1st Baseman
Greg Dobbs was scratched from Monday’s Grapefruit League game due to soreness in his left hamstring.
It’s not a major injury, but the Marlins can afford to be cautious with everybody here in early March. “I’d rather him to miss a couple of more days,” manager Ozzie Guillen said. “A couple of days is not going to kill him.”
  • WSH 1st Baseman
Greg Dobbs hit a pinch-hit three run double to help Seattle beat Oakland 6-3 tonight.
Barry Zito pitched well, but Chad Bradford allowed three to score without recording an out. The Angels/A’s battle should be fun to watch down the stretch.
  • WSH 1st Baseman
Greg Dobbs homered and doubled twice to lead the Marlins to a 4-3 win over the Cardinals on Monday.
Dobbs fell off badly as last season went along, but the Marlins re-signed him to a two-year deal in January anyway. He’ll back up Hanley Ramirez at third and Gaby Sanchez at first in addition to serving as the team’s top pinch-hitter.
