Hung-Wen Chen made his debut for Single-A Daytona on Tuesday and allowed three runs in six innings.
He struck out nine, which is quite a change for him. Chen was 2-4 with a 3.15 ERA, 67 H and 44/12 K/BB in 71 1/3 innings for low Single-A Peoria. He ranks pretty far down the list of Cubs’ pitching prospects, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility that he’ll reach the majors as a reliever.
