The Giants have promoted prospects Reggie Crawford and Hunter Bishop from Double- to Triple-A.
Formerly a first baseman and starting pitcher, Crawford is done as a position player now and has been used as a reliever, rather than as a starter, this season. He had a 4.66 ERA and a 19/5 K/BB ratio in 9 2/3 innings for Richmond. Bishop, a 2019 first-round pick who has mostly struggled and was left unprotected in the Rule 5 draft over the winter, was hitting .242/.314/.358 in Double-A.

Giants OF prospect Hunter Bishop announced Tuesday that he will undergo Tommy John surgery to repair a torn UCL.
The Giants had been hopeful that Bishop would be able to undergo a lesser procedure that could have gotten him back on the field before the end of the 2023 season, but the unfortunate diagnosis was confirmed and he’ll be sidelined until the start of the 2024 season. The 24-year-old outfielder is considered a consensus top-100 prospect in baseball after hitting .233/.318/.404 with 13 homers, 44 RBI and 20 swipes in 86 games between Rookie League ball and High-A Eugene in 2022.

Hunter Bishop slugged a solo homer on Saturday night in the Arizona Fall League’s annual Fall Stars Game.
Bishop has been limited by a plethora of injuries since being selected 10th overall by the Giants in the 2019 MLB Draft. He played in just 16 games last year due to a right shoulder injury. The shoulder looked just fine in this one as he walloped a 412-foot moonshot to right-center field in the fourth inning of the exhibition showcase. The 23-year-old outfielder should move quickly through the Giants’ system, if he can stay healthy next year.

Brett Baty is starting at third base and hitting second for the East Division on Saturday night in the Arizona Fall League’s annual Fall Stars Game.
Baty has evolved into of the most exciting hitting prospects in the game after slashing .292/.382/.473 with 12 home runs across 91 games between High-A and Double-A this past season. Here’s the full East Division lineup: Andy Weber 2B, Brett Baty 3B, Nelson Velazquez RF, JJ Bleday LF, Gabriel Moreno C, Triston Casas 1B, Curtis Mead DH, Logan Davidson SS, Hunter Bishop CF and Caleb Kilian P.

Giants OF prospect Hunter Bishop (COVID-19) has reported to the team’s alternate training site.
Bishop tested positive for COVID-19 back in late June, before the start of summer camp workouts, but he would appear to be fully healthy now and can get in some important development time in intrasquad games and whatnot. It’s doubtful that the 2019 first-round pick will see any major league action during the 2020 season.

Giants OF prospect Hunter Bishop tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.
Giants president Farhan Zaidi made that announcement on Monday. Bishop is not part of the Giants’ player pool for MLB’s planned 60-game season and is presumably in self-quarantine at his offseason home. The 22-year-old outfielder was the 10th overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft.

Giants signed first-round pick OF Hunter Bishop.
Jim Callis of MLB.com says that Bishop’s signing bonus will be $4.1 million, which is significantly lower than the assigned slot value for the No. 10 pick of $4.7399 million. Bishop has some swing and miss in his game but boasted some of the best power in this year’s Draft.

Giants selected OF Hunter Bishop out of Arizona State with the 10th pick in the 2019 MLB Draft.
Bishop is the brother of Mariners’ OF prospect Braden Bishop, but they do not have similar skill sets, at all. Bishop’s best tool is his power; he hit 22 homers for the Sun Devils this year, and he projects to have 60-grade -- or plus -- power. He also has a chance to draw walks and hit for a decent average, but it lags behind the pop. Bishop will get a chance to play center, but more than likely, he moves up to a corner outfield spot, and the bat should play there.
