Romanski, 26, batted .308/.338/.410 with four homers and 38 RBI over 90 games in Double-A this past season. He was expected to head to Triple-A to begin 2017, but now he’ll get a late start on the year.

Jake Romanski has been suspended for 100 games by Major League Baseball after testing positive for amphetamines.
Romanski got hit with a 50-game suspension back in December 2016 for the same offense. The 27-year-old catcher batted just .250/.263/.290 with one home run in 48 games last season between the Double-A and Triple-A affiliates of the Red Sox. He had been invited to major league camp this spring, but probably just to catch bullpen sessions. That invite has now been rescinded.
