Mets signed OF Jarrett Parker to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Parker made only 15 plate appearances at the major league level in 2019 with the Angels and struck out eight times without recording a hit. The 30-year-old will be organizational outfield depth for New York.

Angels sent Jarrett Parker outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Parker was designated for assignment and removed from the 40-man roster after going 0-for-12 with eight strikeouts in his 10-day stay with the Angels in the early part of July. He’ll head back to the Bees and provide organizational depth for the remainder of 2019.

Angels designated OF Jarrett Parker for assignment.
Parker went 0-for-12 with eight strikeouts during his 10-day stay with the Angels, but the 30-year-old had posted very good numbers this season at Triple-A Salt Lake and could draw interest from other teams on waivers.

Justin Upton (quad) remained out of the Angels’ lineup Friday.
Upton has sat out two straight now with a tight quad. Jarrett Parker is in left field again Friday.
  • MLB Outfield #8
Justin Upton (quad) is not in the Angels’ lineup Thursday against the Rangers.
Neither is Albert Pujols. Upton exited Wednesday’s game with left quad tightness and apparently his ailing quad is still a bit gimpy. In his stead, Jarrett Parker will man left field and bat eighth against Texas hurler Lance Lynn. Consider Upton day-to-day.

Angels purchased the contract of OF Jarrett Parker from Triple-A Salt Lake.
He’s taking the place of Brian Goodwin, who was placed on the injured list with a wrist contusion. Parker hasn’t played in the MLB since 2017, and owns a career .257/.335/.455 line in his time in the majors. The 30-year-old was excellent with the Bees this year, however, with a .296 average, 1.028 OPS and 19 homers over 64 games in the PCL. He’ll likely be a fourth outfielder while Goodwin is on the shelf.

Angels signed OF Jarrett Parker to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports says the deal includes a foreign team inquiry clause. A former second-round pick by the Giants, Parker was released in March and didn’t play in 2018. The 29-year-old has a career .257/.335/.456 line in 135 MLB games, so he could compete for a fourth outfielder spot in spring training.
  • SF Designated Hitter #8
Hunter Pence (hamstring) remains absent from the Giants’ starting lineup on Wednesday afternoon.
Pence has been dealing with right hamstring discomfort since Saturday and told reporters Tuesday that he plans to take it easy and let the muscle fully heal. There’s a chance he could return Friday after Thursday’s scheduled off day, but it’s not guaranteed. Jarrett Parker is starting in left field and Gregor Blanco is in right field Wednesday versus Padres right-hander James Shields.
  • FA Shortstop #35
Brandon Crawford is absent from the Giants’ lineup Sunday.
It appears to be a routine day off. Ehire Adrianza will fill in at shortstop. Angel Pagan is also getting a breather, as Jarrett Parker is in left field.

Jarrett Parker blasted a two-run homer against the Cardinals on Sunday night, but it wasn’t enough to lead his club to victory.
Parker, getting a shot at playing time in right field due to the injury to Hunter Pence, tagged Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez in the fourth inning, giving the Giants a 2-1 lead at the time. It was his lone hit in three at-bats in the contest and Parker is now hitting .205/.295/.410 with two bombs and five RBI on the season.
