Infielder Jay Beshears was traded from the Padres to the Marlins in a six-player deal.
Beshears, a sixth-rounder last year, was hitting .261/.373/.377 between low-A and high-A this season. The Padres have mostly used him at shortstop, even though he never played the position in college. He’s not likely to play there in the majors, either, but it’s possible he’ll surface as a utilityman someday.
