Biddle

Biddle signed a minor league contract back in January and was cut loose after allowing nine runs on nine hits with a 6/13 K/BB ratio across 5 2/3 innings (eight appearances) this season for Triple-A Reno.

Biddle spent the previous two seasons pitching overseas with the Orix Buffaloes of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball. The 31-year-old southpaw holds a career 5.07 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 105/62 K/BB ratio across 103 innings (99 appearances) in the majors since 2018. He’ll bolster Arizona’s left-handed relief depth.

The Buffaloes have also inked Breyvic Valera and Jacob Waguespack to deals. Biddle, 30, holds a 5.07 ERA over 99 relief appearances at the big league level.

Biddle made eight relief appearances for the Braves back in April and May before spending the rest of the year at Triple-A Gwinnett. The 29-year-old lefty should be able to latch on with a minor-league deal somewhere this offseason.

Biddle was desingated for assignment on May 17 by Atlanta and cleared waivers. The 29-year-old posted an 8.44 ERA over eight appearances this season.

Biddle was with the Braves for exactly one month while posting a shaky 8.44 ERA over eight appearances. The club has called up fellow southpaw Tucker Davidson to replace him on the active roster.

Biddle made one appearances with the Reds during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign, after making 30 appearances split between the Braves, Mariners and Rangers, back in 2019. The 29-year-old lefty will provide some bullpen help for the Braves, who have been hit hard by injuries recently.

Biddle was released by the Reds despite a decent spring training where he posted a 3.00 ERA and 12/2 K/BB ratio over nine innings. He could help Atlanta’s bullpen in the coming months; albeit in a role that has zero fantasy appeal.

The 29-year-old southpaw actually had a really nice spring -- posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 12/2 K/BB ratio across nine innings -- but he wasn’t going to win a spot in the team’s crowded Opening Day bullpen. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him latch on elsewhere in the coming days.

Biddle was outrighted off the Reds’ 40-man roster on Wednesday but apparently chose to become a free agent rather than accept the team’s assignment to a minor league affiliate. The southpaw fought shoulder issues this year and appeared in just one game in relief for the Cincinnati club. He’ll try to catch on with another team this winter.
