Harvey

Harvey made 22 relief appearances between the Yankees and Rockies from 2019 to 2020 and didn’t pitch at all last year. The 31-year-old righty reliever will open the regular season as extra relief depth at Triple-A Gwinnett.

Harvey was released after being designated for assignment by the Rockies in late-June. The 29-year-old righty made four appearances at the big-league level, tossing 3 1/3 scoreless frames this season. He’ll serve as organizational relief depth moving forward.

This move clears a spot for Chris Owings, who is finally back from his early-April thumb sprain. Harvey hits the waiver wire with a career 4.22 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and 19/13 K/BB ratio in 21 1/3 major league innings.

Harvey, 29, takes the place of Austin Gomber on the roster. He’s pitched well in relief for the Isotopes this year as seen in a 2.63 ERA over 15 appearances in Triple-A. He’ll likely work in the middle innings while with Colorado.

Harvey is now off of the 40-man roster. The right-hander was placed on the 45-day injured list in August after suffering a right elbow sprain. The 28-year-old allowed three hits over 3 1/3 scoreless innings before the injury. Harvey can elect free agency, or he can report to Triple-A with a likely invite to spring training in 2021.

Harvey is officially done for the remainder of the 2020 regular season after suffering a right elbow sprain in an appearance last week against the Astros. He had thrown 3 1/3 scoreless innings this year for Colorado.

James Pazos has been recalled from the team’s alternate training site to replace him in the Rockies’ bullpen. Depending on the severity of the sprain, it’s possible that he won’t return before the end of the regular season. The 28-year-old hurler had allowed just three hits while striking out two over 3 1/3 scoreless innings so far on the season.

Harvey called on trainers in the sixth inning after throwing a pitch, and he left immediately. A status update on the right-hander should be available after the game.

He’ll supplement their bullpen with Wade Davis (shoulder) going down. Harvey posted a 5.00 ERA over 18 relief appearances in the majors last season.

The move clears him from the 40-man roster. Harvey turns 28 in January and has posted good numbers in the minors, though he scuffled during his first major league action in 2019.
