Bormann

Bormann was up for one day and got an at-bat because the Pirates were unable to get Elias Diaz to Miami in time. He got a nice little bump in pay and is now on the 40-man roster.

The 24-year-old is jumping three levels to the majors to serve as the Pirates’ third catcher. Bormann, 24, has hit just .232/.282/.310 in the minors but has a good glove. The addition of Bormann suggests that Francisco Cervelli might not be healthy. Cervelli is not playing Sunday.

Borrmann was only in the majors for a day as emergency catching depth and he struck out in his one plate appearance with the Bucs. The 24-year-old is now off the Pirates’ 40-man roster.
