    Braves released INF José Devers.
Devers was cut loose earlier this weekend playing just 29 games this season at Triple-A Gwinnett. The 25-year-old infielder was a notable prospect with the Marlins a couple years ago, but has appeared in just 24 games in the big leagues since 2021.
  • ATL Shortstop #79
Braves INF prospect José Devers went 3-for-5 with a home run and three runs scored for Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
Devers is a former Marlins prospect who elected minor league free agency this offseason and joined the Braves. So far, he’s hitting .385/.393/.654 in seven games with two home runs, six RBI, and seven runs scored. It’s a small sample size, and Devers is just a .263/.325/.367 career minor league hitter, but the Braves have Nick Allen and Orlando Arcia as their two shortstops on the MLB roster, so Devers could certainly push one of those guys if he continues to swing ahot bat over the next month or so.
  • ATL Shortstop #79
Braves reassigned INF José Devers to minor league camp.
The 24-year-old showed well defensively during spring training and has MLB experience but has yet to put together any consistent success. He could give the Braves solid middle infield depth in the organization.
  • ATL Shortstop #79
Braves signed INF Jose Devers to a minor league contract.
The 24-year-old infielder — and cousin of Red Sox’ superstar Rafael Devers — spent the past seven seasons in the Marlins’ organization where he appeared in 24 games at the big-league level. He’ll add infield depth for the Braves, most likely at Triple-A Gwinnett.
  • FA Center Fielder #20
Fish on First reports that the Cristian Pache, Jose Devers and Kent Emanuel have elected minor-league free agency.
Pache was designated for assignment and outrighted off the Marlins’ roster just before the end of the year, and the former top prospect will be looking for yet another new home in the offseason. Devers has been in the Miami organization since the Giancarlo Stanton trade, but never was able to make a big impact. Emanuel should see interest for teams looking for pitching depth this spring.
  • MIA Shortstop #79
Marlins designated INF José Devers for assignment.
The Marlins needed to make room with Derek Hill and Vidal Brujan coming off the IL, so Devers was let go. The 24-year-old is hitting .239/.304/.362 in 54 games at Triple-A with three home runs and three steals. He’s still young, so there’s a chance that another organization will take a shot on him; however, he likely passes through waivers unclaimed.
  • MIA Center Fielder #58
Marlins reinstated OF Derek Hill (shoulder) from the 10-day IL.
Hill was placed on the IL on September 7th with a shoulder injury and has seen Griffin Conine step into a starting stop in his absence. Conine will receive yet another start on Thursday, which could imply that Derek Hill fill a short-side platoon role with either Conine or Jesus Sanchez for the remainder of the season. Jose Devers was designated for assignment to make room for Hill on the 40-man roster.
  • MIA Shortstop #79
José Devers (hand) is not in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Phillies.
Devers suffered an apparent left hand injury on an eight-inning collision at first base when he tried to corral an errant throw from third baseman Connor Norby. The 24-year-old infielder went 1-for-4 in a pair of contests for the Marlins after being brought up earlier this week from Triple-A Jacksonville.

José Devers suffered an injury during Friday’s game, and the Marlins are bringing Javier Sanoja to Miami in case he needs to go on the injured list.
Sanoja was quite a bit more worthy than Devers of a promotion in the first place, and it’ll be interesting to see what he can do if he gets the call. It’s unclear at the moment what is wrong with Devers.
  • MIA Shortstop #57
Marlins selected the contract of INF José Devers from Triple-A Jacksonville.
With Vidal Brujan (shoulder) landing on the injured list on Saturday and Xavier Edwards (back) already sidelined, Devers will add some depth to the Marlins’ infield for the time being. He’s unlikely to see enough action to be relevant from a fantasy perspective.
